Asymptotically Optimal Weighted Numerical Integration

چکیده
We study numerical integration of H older{type functions with respect to weights on the real line. Our study extends previous work by F. Curbera, [2] and relies on a connection between this problem and the approximation of distribution functions by empirical ones. The analysis is based on a lemma which is important within the theory of optimal designs for approximating stochastic processes. As an application we reproduce a variant of the well known result for weighted integration of Brownian paths, see e.g., [8].

Determination of Stability Domains for Nonlinear Dynamical Systems Using the Weighted Residuals Method
Finding a suitable estimation of stability domain around stable equilibrium points is an important issue in the study of nonlinear dynamical systems. This paper intends to apply a set of analytical-numerical methods to estimate the region of attraction for autonomous nonlinear systems. In mechanical and structural engineering, autonomous systems could be found in large deformation problems or c...
متن کاملOn the Approximate Calculation of Double Integrals
Cubature formulas are obtained which are optimal or asymptotically optimal on given sets of functions. These formulas consist of line integrals which may be evaluated by optimal or asymptotically optimal quadrature formulas. The advantage of these formulas over the optimal and asymptotically optimal cubature formulas with rectangular-lattices of knots is shown.
متن کاملHigher-Degree Stochastic Integration Filtering
We obtain a class of higher-degree stochastic integration filters (SIF) for nonlinear filtering applications. SIF are based on stochastic spherical-radial integration rules that achieve asymptotically exact evaluations of Gaussian weighted multivariate integrals found in nonlinear Bayesian filtering. The superiority of the proposed scheme is demonstrated by comparing the performance of the prop...
متن کاملA Variation Evolving Method for Optimal Control
Abstract: A new method for the optimal solutions is proposed. Originating from the continuous-time dynamics stability theory in the control field, the optimal solution is anticipated to be obtained in an asymptotically evolving way. By introducing a virtual dimension— —the variation time, a dynamic system that describes the variation motion is deduced from the Optimal Control Problem (OCP), and...
متن کاملEnergy functionals, numerical integration and asymptotic equidistribution on the sphere
In this paper, we study the numerical integration of continuous functions on d-dimensional spheres S ⊆ R by equally weighted quadrature rules based at N ≥ 1 points on S which minimize a generalized energy functional. Examples of such points are configurations, which minimize energies for the Riesz kernel ‖x− y‖−s 0 < s ≤ d and logarithmic kernel − log ‖x− y‖. We deduce that extremal point confi...
